Technology Radars
Technology Radars

I've used Technology Radars since 2013, when ThoughtWorks first introduced me to the idea. I've found it a great way to get organisations to collaborate around their technical direction. It's a powerful and easy way to communicate and align strategically.

I've used Technology Radars since 2013 when ThoughtWorks first introduced me to the idea. I've found it a great way to get organisations to collaborate around their technical direction. It's a powerful and easy way to communicate and align strategically. In the early days, I'd hold regular 1-day workshops with technical representatives from around the company to come up with what we thought the next revision of the radar should include. I'd then write it up and publish it in the form of a poster and PDF handout. Nowadays things are a lot easier, I tend to hold informal Guilds (open community of interest groups) to build the Radar live on Google Sheets and publish via the ThoughtWorks visualisation tool.

One of the last ones I created was for LMS, its pictured alongside and links to an old version, really happy with the tech stack it shows. If you would like to give it a go here's a link to building your own TechRadar.
